Public Interactive, founded in 1999, was an innovative application service provider that developed websites, provided streaming services and digital platforms for public radio and television stations. The company was originally a joint venture of PRI (Public Radio International) and 15 public broadcasting stations. The firm was acquired by National Public Radio (NPR) in August 2008 to serve as a centralized utility for the public media ecosystem. Customers included nationally syndicated NPR’s CarTalk and PRI’s The World, achieving 100,000+ activations.
