The Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani is a prestigious Indian university for higher education in science, technology and humanities. International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) is an autonomous university, founded as a not-for-profit public private partnership (N-PPP) in 1998, and is the first IIIT in India under this model. National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, was established in 1960 as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC).
