On 06 February 2019, the Minister of Higher Education and Training approved the document entitled the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP) to be gazetted. On 07 March 2019 the NSDP was published in the Government Gazette. The NSDP has been developed with the aim of enabling the South African government to contribute towards the economic growth, creation of employment and social development. The plan was crafted to respond to the goals of the White Paper for Post-School Education and Training and was developed in context with the objectives of the Skills Development Act (SDA), 1998, Act No.97 of 1998 as amended. The NSDP will be implemented in phases with effect from 01 April 2020. Gazette on Directions regarding the reopening of institutions offering qualifications registered on the Occupational Qualifications Sub -Framework (OQSF), from 1 June 2020, as set out in the Schedule.
