PS 261 is a community where your constructive involvement makes a difference. Whether it is volunteering in a classroom or chairing an event, your efforts have a direct impact on daily life in our school. As a native New Yorker, a product of public education, and an educator for 28 years, I cherish the opportunity to continue to be of service in public education alongside you. I started as a parent at PS 261 just like you, then grew into Principal over the years. Many of those years have been at my beloved 261. We hope that over time, you come to love being part of the PS 261 community as much as those of us who are returning for another school year do. At PS 261, staff, families and students work in each other's company, navigating through today's complex and shifting educational landscape through careful observation and thoughtful conversation. We invite you to find your own unique ways to contribute to this effort. At PS 261 we do our best to treat each other with kindness and consideration and to balance our own needs and wishes with those of the people around us. In this way, we work toward being a community that values both individual success and collective well-being. We understand that by living these values as adults, we are creating an environment that will encourage our children to do the same.

P.S. 295 was created in 1994 to accommodate the growing number of elementary school-aged children in the neighborhood. Our school was designated The Studio School of Arts and Culture-a Magnet School-in 2001 as an empowerment school dedicated to the arts. This heritage continue to play a central role in our identity and philosophy. For 10 years, we shared our building with the original occupant of the building, P.S. 146, whose designation still adorns the entrance to the school. Today we share our building with M.S. 443: New Voices School of Academic and Creative Arts. Our building, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2004, was designed by C.B.J. Snyder, renowned architect and superintendent of school buildings for the NYC DOE. Snyder's "H-Design," huge double-hung windows and use of insulating building materials allow light and air to move freely about the building, creating an accommodating learning environment for all seasons. The 19th St. entrance to the school was recently embellished with dozens of tiles hand painted by students.

P.S. 305 is Miami's first and only educational advocacy organization, working to improve Miami-Dade's K-12 public schools. Our goal is for students, parents, teachers, and community members to be informed about the performance of schools and actively work to improve academic outcomes by advocating for quality, choice and accountability at all levels of the education system. This diverse group of stakeholders accomplishes this primarily through grassroots organizing to implement best-practice policies at the school district level. Vision: Every child in Miami-Dade County receives a high quality education. Mission: Inform, organize, and empower leaders that fight for a rigorous system of quality, choice, and accountability across all of Miami’s schools.
