The first digital production facility of its kind in Europe offering virtual production, 3D scanning, motion capture and sound recording in the North East and provides access to previously unattainable leading-edge facilities and expertise, PROTO is a space to support educators, practitioners and innovators to define the future of art and entertainment. VIRTUAL PRODUCTION LED VOLUME - operated by Target3D, supported and funded by Digital Catapult and InnovateUK. OPTICAL MOTION CAPTURE & PHOTOGRAMMETRY - Our stage is not only perfect for animation and VFX but also provides innovative tracking solutions for virtual reality, training and simulation, hologram creation and movement sciences. 3D SCANNING - Our state-of-the-art photogrammetry stage is used to scan and capture characters and large items. Our stage uses 120 cameras to shoot 3D images of bodies, faces and heads creating photorealistic digital characters for games, immersive experiences and beyond. IMMERSIVE LAB - Established by Digital Catapult NETV, the Immersive Lab (one of only four in the UK) offers companies access to the very best hardware and innovative software across AR, VR and mixed-reality. PROTO is part of Advanced Media Production which is a combined capability of two research and innovation studios connected via a high speed private network.
