PRoTechos is a 501(c)(3) and Puerto Rico 1101.01 tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to training communities in basic carpentry while rebuilding safer roofs for families in underserved areas. Our model responds to two urgent needs on the island: families who continue living under vulnerable roof conditions years after Hurricane María, and the need to strengthen local construction skills through hands-on training. Through real reconstruction projects, participants gain practical carpentry experience while helping improve the safety of homes in their own communities. Since 2018, PRoTechos has rebuilt 225+ roofs, certified 215 apprentices, and impacted more than 900 people across Puerto Rico. We collaborate with municipalities, community leaders, donors, volunteers, and partner organizations to expand access to safer roofs and practical workforce training.
