PRoTechos rebuilds hurricane-resistant roofs for Puerto Rican families who lost them to Hurricane María — and trains community members in carpentry as part of the work. Our "Learn and Serve" model turns every reconstruction into hands-on workforce development: apprentices gain real, certifiable carpentry skills while raising safer roofs in their own communities. Our work responds to two urgent, connected needs on the island: families still living under vulnerable roofs years after María, and the shortage of skilled builders to strengthen local construction capacity. Since 2018, PRoTechos has rebuilt 235+ roofs, certified 240 apprentices, and impacted more than 900 people across Puerto Rico. We partner with municipalities, community leaders, donors, volunteers, and companies to expand access to safe housing and practical skills training. PRoTechos is a 501(c)(3) and Puerto Rico 1101.01 tax-exempt nonprofit.
