Pete Sparkes is the founder and leading proofreader for the proofreading and editing company known, rather appropriately, as proofreadandedit.com. The company was formed in response to the lack of good-value, no-nonsense proofreading services available. The company offers a professional, yet personal, service that includes proofreading, copy-editing, substantive editing, research and article writing to order. He believes that accuracy, reliability, value and transparency are the core values of his business. Originally from Portsmouth, England, Pete moved to Perth,Western Australia with his fiancee, Sue, in 2011. After being made redundant in June 2015, they moved once more, to the rural village of Hunterville in the Rangitikei district of New Zealand. It is from here that Proofread and Edit is run. Pete has been a machinist and fitter for most of his working life, with a brief spell as a publican in the early '90s. He has always had a strong interest in, and aptitude for, the English language. He has had several articles published and is a prize-winning short story author.
