Abdul Nasir is an avid golfer, and via his game he promotes project “WE”, i.e., a) supply of drinking water for all, and b) quality education for all. The region of Tharparkar is one of the driest within the sub-continent. Teamed up with a group of philanthropy enthusiasts, Abdul Nasir facilitated burrowing sweet water wells together with installing pumps in various villages within the said district. Each well with a pump ensures supply of safe drinkable water to the nearby dwellers. In the past few years, the team has installed over 80 water pumps on newly burrowed wells. The total cost of installation of one water pump in such a remote area is approximately PKR 28,000 (equiv. to USD 100). Other options include a heavy duty pump for PKR 90,000 (USD 320), a submersible pump with 6' x 6' tank for PKR 160,000 (USD 570) and a solar-powered water pump with 6'x6' storage tank for PKR 260,000 (USD 920). Since 1994, the READ Foundation is striving to provide quality education to the needy and deserving orphan students, thereby playing its role in creation of a better world. Abdul Nasir has teamed up with the READ Foundation, in facilitation of their objective. The total cost of one whole year of a student’s education is approximately PKR 30,000 (equiv. to USD 130).
