Project Skyfall is a NASA-funded project developing a groundbreaking solution to the orbital debris crisis. Our system — which focuses primarily on Active Debris Removal (ADR) — is less expensive, more durable, and much more efficient than existing orbital debris mitigation solutions. In other words, we’re creating a better way to get rid of space junk! Our project recently won first prize in the Summer 2023 NASA Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience (NPWEE) competition, through which we received NASA funding and forged invaluable partnerships. Using these resources, our team — which is led by a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate students — is now heavily engaged in further research and design processes, with plans to begin physical construction of a prototype in 2024.
