Project R.E.S.T. is a registered 501(c)(3) providing a multi-faceted assistance program to victims of domestic violence in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties, and victims of sexual assault in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties for the past 30 years. In July of 2022 our organization changed its name from Safe Homes Rape Crisis Coalition to Project R.E.S.T., reflecting our working together to Restore, Empower, Support and Transform those affected by domestic and sexual violence. While safety is always our first goal, we recognize that it is important to move beyond safety to truly achieve the transformation we seek for our clients and our community. Although our name has changed, our commitment to trauma-informed services and best practices remains. We continue to provide shelter for victims in need, offer support to those who have experienced rape, and develop and implement programs to assist all in living lives free from abuse. In the words of Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
