Project Protocol is an anonymous, community-driven online platform supporting people on parole. Founded in 2020 by Emiliano Lopez after his own lived experience navigating parole, Project Protocol exists to address a critical gap: people returning from incarceration are expected to rebuild their lives in a fully digital world without access, guidance, or safety. This digital divide, combined with a lack of transparency, leads to confusion, technical violations, and unnecessary harm. Project Protocol uses technology for good. We provide a trusted, community-vetted reentry resource directory and a safe space for people on parole to share experiences and rate interactions with parole officers, without fear of surveillance or retaliation. Our vision is a future beyond surveillance, where technology expands access, builds trust, and supports reentry with dignity.
