Project Ohm is an initiative born in Western Australia, where we have seen first-hand the challenges and opportunities of our global energy transition. Western Australia has the highest per capita adoption of rooftop solar in the world and it also has the world’s largest isolated energy grid. Countries like Australia are generating more renewable energy than ever before — but much of it is wasted because our grids are not flexible enough to handle the surplus. That’s a missed opportunity, both economically and environmentally. As artificial intelligence rapidly expands, its energy demands are growing exponentially. In fact, centralised AI-driven data centres are projected to consume as much electricity as Japan by 2026. Most of that energy comes from fossil fuels, they are massive contributors to the global carbon footprint. Project Ohm was created to solve both of these problems at once. We are building small, decentralised AI computing nodes — powered not by fossil fuels, but by stranded renewable energy that would otherwise go unused. And we are using AI to time and allocate workloads across these nodes based on real-time energy availability. Our nodes are small, fast to deploy, and located anywhere energy is abundant but underutilised — whether near rural solar farms or overloaded substations. This means cleaner computing, stronger local economies, and more resilient energy grids. Project Ohm is not just about powering AI — it’s about reimagining how we can create a globally connected sustainably powered intelligence
