Project Eagle Information

The staff of Project Eagle have been partnering with families to improve the outcomes for those children most at risk for academic failure since 1989. Project Eagle has expanded its program, services, staff, and budget to serve over 1,000 children and families annually. 1989 - Project Eagle receives an initial federal grant as one of 24 Comprehensive Child Development Research programs, hires 18 staff and enrolls 120 families. 1995 - Project Eagle selected to become one of the first Early Head Start programs in the country and one of 17 national Early Head Start research sites. 1998 - Project Eagle selected as a site for a Healthy Start program through the Mother Child Health Coalition. 1998 - Project Eagle expands to become a Kansas Early Head Start program. 1999 - Project Eagle celebrates 10 years in the community. 2003 - Project Eagle begins offering the Connections Centralized Screening and Referral System. 2004 - Project Eagle awarded a federal Healthy Tomorrows Partnership for Children Program grant to support its Connections program. 2009 - Project Eagle awarded a federal EHS Expansion grant to expand its Early Head Start services to include a center-based program. 2010 - Project Eagle moves to the Children's Campus of Kansas City and opens the Educare of Kansas City Center as part of the Educare Learning Network. 2011 - Project Eagle opens an on-site health clinic for young children and their parents. Project Eagle awarded a 2nd Healthy Tomorrows Partnership for Children Program grant to expand Connections to include a health screening and assessment component. Project Eagle partners with multiple community partners to bring added value services on site. 2011-present - Project Eagle serves more than 1,000 children and their families each year and has over 70 staff.
