Project Canopy Information

Project Canopy’s mission is to gather, transform, and communicate the data needed to end defaunation, deforestation, and carbon emissions in the Congo Basin rainforest. Our data platform, analytics, and newswire equip environmental stakeholders, locally and globally, with the information they need to drive impactful programs and policies. Launched in 2020, Project Canopy quickly garnered interest from a wide range of stakeholders, including the Subak Accelerator, which we joined in Spring 2022. Along the way, multiple actors, including Techstars, encouraged us to pivot toward a profit-making model to ensure the organization’s long-term financial sustainability, leading to the creation of Iroko Analytics. In 2024, it was decided to pause further development of Project Canopy until Iroko Analytics reaches financial maturity - ensuring the former can be sustained and scaled on a stronger foundation of resources and institutional support.
