Project Callisto Information

Project Callisto was a privately funded research program organized as a deep-tech hardware startup to investigate cold fusion and anomalous heat. From its founding in 2015 through its closure in 2024, more than 100 scientists, engineers, technicians, machinists, and operations professionals contributed to the effort. The mission was to determine whether the reported anomalous heat effect was a real, measurable phenomenon. Answering that question required building both a research organization and experimental capabilities that were not commercially available. Callisto grew to occupy more than 45,000 square feet of research and prototyping space, bringing physics, electrochemistry, precision measurement, mechanical engineering, materials science, and advanced manufacturing together on a single campus. The work followed two complementary paths: reproducing published electrochemical experiments and exploring deuterium-loaded palladium under extreme gas pressures. Teams developed custom pressure systems, sensitive calorimeters, laser experiments, and microscopic detectors designed to search for individual reaction events. An in-house machine shop worked closely with researchers and engineers to rapidly build, test, and refine experimental hardware. Across more than 200,000 sample-hours of electrochemical calorimetry and a broad range of high-pressure experiments, Callisto found no evidence of cold fusion or anomalous heat. Many apparent signals were traced to conventional chemical, thermal, or measurement effects. The program’s technical reports are now publicly available, documenting the equipment, methods, results, and limitations of the work.
