TaskMapĀ® was invented in the early 2000s by Mike Cunningham, Scott Helmers, and Kathy Brennan at Harvard Computing Group (HCG), a software and consulting firm that assisted clients with understanding and implementing business process solutions. The team at HCG provided a unique mix of technical skills, marketing savvy, and senior management experience, all of which contributed to the design of TaskMap. Since mid-2026, TaskMap has been maintained, sold, and supported by Scott Helmers at Process and Data Design Services, LLC. In addition to TaskMap, Process and Data Design Services offers training on business diagramming tools, especially Visio and Lucidchart, with a focus on data visualization. Creating interactive, data-driven reports using Visio and Power BI is a particular speciality.
