Princess Anne Courthouse Volunteer Rescue Squad (PACHVRS) serves the emergency medical needs of the Princess Anne / General Booth / Redmill / Salem areas of the City of Virginia Beach. PACHVRS has served its community since 1947. PACHVRS is one of 10 volunteer rescue squads that exist solely to provide EMS response to the city. The 110 Operational and Administrative members serve approximately 50,000 hours a year. The City of Virginia Beach is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is home to the largest volunteer-based EMS service in the United States. The City of Virginia Beach is home to a major military population along with lifelong residents who make up a year-round permanent population of 453,000.
