At Primrose Hill we make use of the global network of computers which form the internet. We recognize that this can give children access to an enormous range of information to support their learning. We encourage them to use the thousands of libraries, databases and web sites as part of their own research and to enhance their learning across the curriculum. Home access to the Internet and related technologies such as e-mail, instant messaging and chat room services are commonplace and for this reason we accept our responsibility in helping children use safe and responsible behaviours whenever they use these technologies. Each classroom and the computer suite are fully networked providing internet access throughout the school. Class teachers use interactive whiteboards which are connected to the school internet using a security encoded router. The school connects to the internet through the London Grid for Learning which employs measures to make access to inappropriate and offensive material difficult. Pupils are always supervised when accessing the internet or using electronic mail. As part of our admissions procedures parents'/carers' signed consent is gained for each child before they access the internet. The safety of pupils is of paramount importance to us. We will ensure that any photos of children placed on our website cannot be identified and we never use full names of individual children.
