Non-profit organization with a mission to bring people together to celebrate the history, courage and diversity of our community.
🎉 June 27th - 30th 🎉
Vancouver Pride Society strives to produce inclusive, celebratory events, and advocacy for 2SLBGTQAI+ communities through an intersectional lens.
We strive to produce events that reflect the pride the 2SLGBTQAI+ community has in itself, by strengthening the sense of community, and contributing to the vibrancy, health and overall well-being of all persons in the community.
The Halifax Pride Society is a not-for-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to producing a Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, 2 Spirited, Asexual, and Allies (2SLGBTTIQQ2SA+; herein referred to as 2SLGBTQ+) Pride Festival.
In 2020, the Halifax Pride Society reimagined our Mission, Vision, and Values. Identifying a colonial narrative woven into the concept of a “mission”, we adopted a new model based on our Aim, Purpose, & Guiding Principles. They are as follows:
AIM: An equitable society free from all forms of oppression.
PURPOSE: To create spaces for persons of diverse sexual and gender identities to come together and flourish.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
- Community: a sense of belonging and connection.
- Self-expression: being one's true authentic self without fear or judgement.
- Growth: continually unlearning oppressive social constructs and structures to reimagine and rebuild a system that will champion all voices.
The Halifax Pride Festival is a celebration which draws in more than 150,000 participants and is one of Canada’s Premier Pride Festivals.
