Im Rick Pollak the Presentation Medic. I help virtual presenters capture and keep the attention of a remote audience. When I started working as an engineer at Motorola, I was a nervous and boring presenter. When it came to death by PowerPoint, I was an infamous serial killer. It took me years to learn the techniques to effectively explain technical topics in a way that captures and keeps an audiences attention. Mastering these explanation skills made me a passionate and interesting speaker, and I enjoyed a successful career giving seminars and presentations on complex telecommunications networks. Teaching these presentation techniques to my colleagues was more satisfying to me than speaking at conferences in the USA and Canada. When I was offered an early retirement at the end of 2013, I jumped at the chance to start my second-act career. I founded Presentation Medic to share what Ive learned from presenting complex concepts to non-technical audiences. In March 2020, I shifted my focus to virtual presentations. My Medics Method process helps you develop a big idea and call to action thats effective even when you cant see your audience in person. Rick Pollak is the founder of Presentation Medic, a company that specializes in curing boring virtual presentations.
