Premier Meetings was founded in Newport Beach, California on June 1, 1985. Specializing in the planning and management of corporate incentive programs, medical education meetings, sales meetings and client appreciation events, Premier Meetings and its CEO, Kathryn Jurgensen, CMP, have received numerous industry awards and earned a strong, respected presence in the special event and meetings industry. In January of 2011, the headquarters of Premier Meetings was relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, after 25 successful years in Southern California. Ms. Jurgensen achieved the accredited designation of CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) and is the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from Meeting Professionals International Orange County Chapter (MPIOC) in Southern California. A member of the meeting planning profession for over twenty-five years, Kathryn Jurgensen is readily acknowledged and respected by industry colleagues as an expert in hotel contract negotiations and meeting safety and security. Ms. Jurgensen served on the Meeting Professionals International Orange County Chapter Board of Directors for eight years in various capacities: Newsletter Editor, President-Elect, President, Immediate Past President, and Director of Sponsorship Marketing. She is also a Past President of the Alliance of Meeting Management Companies (AMMC), an organization representing entrepreneurial meeting planners and consultants who are industry certified and have a minimum of ten years of experience in the meeting industry. In addition to her industry leadership positions, Ms. Jurgensen has served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Southern California Tourism Safety and Security Association, a member of the Board of Directors of CHOC Padrinos (Children's Hospital of Orange County, CA), and was a founding member of the Board of Trustees of the Army and Navy Academy, a military college prep academy in Carlsbad, California. Ms. Jurgensen also served as a board member for the Orange County YMCA and was honored as Member of the Year by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).
