National began working with select homebuilders in northern Alberta in 1990 when a small group of builders, dissatisfied with the builder-run warranty program, sought an independent third party provider to meet the warranty needs of their customers. Since that time, National has grown every year. Ten years ago, National entered the BC marketplace at the request of builders seeking an alternative to that provincial builder-run warranty program. When the BC builder-run program went bankrupt, National was there to provide ‘replacement warranty’ coverage for builders and consumers. Today, National has about 45% of the new home warranty market in British Columbia and approximately 65% of the market in Manitoba. In Alberta, National serves approximately 25% of the market for new home and condo warranties

We have been providing construction insurance since 1999. We are owned by Thomas Miller, a world class insurance services business at the forefront of the insurance industry since 1885. Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty is an AA rated global insurer. Our policies are underpinned by an independent technical appraisal aimed at minimising defects right from the design stage. Our housing warranty insurance product is a compelling alternative to the 'traditional' 10 year new home warranty solutions. Our cover has a one off cost so the builder/developer does not need to provide an annual membership fee, additional security and financial bonds. Our commercial latent defects insurance product is the most comprehensive in the market: M&E cover, Component Failure, Loss of Rent and financial limits to match the exposure. All aimed to protect the investment with a single policy from one of the world's largest insurance groups. BLP is also a leading resource for whole life cost methodology in UK residential construction, and offers durability assessments to facilitate the adoption of innovative and offsite manufactured systems; BOPAS (Buildoffsite Property Assurance Scheme) has been jointly developed by Buildoffsite, The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Lloyd's Register and BLP, in consultation with the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) and the Building Societies Association (BSA), to provide assurance to the lending community that innovatively constructed properties against which they may be lending, will be sufficiently durable as to be readily saleable for a minimum of 60 years.
