PowerRuby Limited Information

PowerRuby developed a version of the Ruby language and the Ruby on Rails application framework for the IBM i OS running on Power hardware. The project began as a complex collaboration in the USA, UK and Italy. Now the expanded operation runs out of Bath, UK, and has downloaded to evaluators and implementors all around the world. The advantages of operating the Ruby world on these immensely powerful server environments is that scale is virtually unlimited, and uptime and security way better than other platforms. We've worked on improving the programmer experience moving to the IBMi and for most developers only a simple adjustment to the more integrated and 'joined-up' world of mainframes is required. Currently (early 2015) we still provide downloads in a CE (Community Edition) manner, but paid support is on its way as we put together the last few pieces of packaging and distribution technology. Performance for commercial types of application is amazing, and getting better as we leverage the IBMi's unusual abilities to deliver to scale in a controlled way. Watch this space.
