POSTextiles Information

We are a collective of forwardthinking textile designers who interrogate established perceptions of our discipline and what it means to be a textile designer today. Graduating from the MA Textile Futures at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, the designers from POSTextiles are design researchers, material craftswomen, critical thinkers, trend forecasters, stylists and more! We are an exuberant group of material explorers entering a textile design landscape whose paradigm is shifting in a world of rapidly changing cultures, economics and technologies. Possessing a strong focus on co-design and research involving individuals from academic and creative disciplines, the designers from POSTextiles have produced an intriguing body of work exploring ideas on Probing the Future, Emotional Resonance, Material Interrogation and Relocating Craft. Our collective seeks to challenge the relationship between textile product as surface, material, concept and emotion, within research spanning past, present and future contexts of our material lives. The core elements that enable us to push material innovation while placing value on social issues is that we embrace the cross-fertilisation of science, technology, philosophy and design. This hybrid approach has enabled us to cultivate ideas that will reshape our future while still using the aesthetic sensibility, language and codes inherent in textiles to make social, ethical and environmental futures accessible to a wider audience.
