Turning curiosity into connection. Our mission is to improve access to some of our world’s most treasured places - inspiring curiosity, developing inquiry, and providing real-world learning connections for students. Our signature "Postcards" program inspires students to get curious about their world by connecting them to National Park Rangers across the country via personalized video messages. This free program allows educators to choose from one of our partnering National Parks, receive curriculum about the history of National Parks and the park of their choice, engage their students' curiosity through inquiry-centered activities, and get student questions answered by Rangers near and far. The National Park System is a federally funded, public resource. However, although there are over 400 National Park Sites spanning all 50 states “Hispanics and Asian Americans each comprised less than 5% of visitors to national park sites surveyed, while less than 2% of visitors were African Americans.” The history of public spaces in the U.S. is built upon discrimination, dating back to redlining in the early 20th century that has led to “communities of color [being] almost three times more likely than white communities to live in ‘nature deprived’ areas.” By bringing National Parks TO classrooms, our free, digital program helps to reduce socioeconomic and geographic barriers by empowering students to engage with Parks, virtually. We ultimately believe that access starts with exposure and awareness. Post Pigeon EDU focuses on creating spaces for students and educators centered on: 🕵🏻♀️ Student-led inquiry 🙋🏽♀️ Sparking & cultivating curiosity 💬 21st century skills 🌎 Real-world learning connections 🌲 Encouraging stewardship for the outdoors By meeting students where they are, we can transform classrooms into places of exploration, discovery, and adventure.
