Post Art Library Information

Post Art Library is a privately endowed not-for-profit special library + art gallery located inside Joplin Public Library . This unique partnership allows us to fulfill our mission while providing a mutually beneficial component to public library service. Post Art Librarys mission is to enrich the community of Joplin by perpetuating Dr. Winfred L. and Elizabeth C. Posts love of art, architecture, history, and historic preservation through public access to arts-related library resources and services, educational programming, events, and exhibits. Winfred and Elizabeth Post were generous philanthropists who actively supported the arts in Joplin. They helped found the Joplin Historical Society and George A. Spiva Center for the Arts. Winfred was an active civic leader and Elizabeth devoted her life to serving others. They received many awards and honors for their efforts. The Posts had planned to leave their house, furniture, and art collections as a museum for the community of Joplin. But their wishes were accomplished in another way. In 1981, Post Art Library opened to the public in the Post Memorial Wing of the Joplin Public Library. Post Art Library is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit administered by the Winfred L. and Elizabeth C. Post Foundation. We're located inside Joplin Public Library at 1901 East 20th Street in Joplin, Missouri.
