Porter Medium is a global news and media organization that shares stories and events from around the world with the goal of educating the public. The organization prides itself on maintaining a neutral and objective voice in a heated political climate. Porter Medium was founded by Jeffrey and Allan Porter. Jeffrey is a finance student in New York City and has traveled and volunteered around the world to gain an international perspective on news and issues. In 2017, Jeffrey founded PM Breaking News which provides followers with latest by the minute updates on global and breaking news. The account has 227,000 followers as of May 2019. [3] Allan is a computer science graduate student at New York University and has experience in web development and design. Porter Medium's mission is to educate rather than influence. They focus on both breaking news and under-reported stories. They prioritize stories on natural disasters, foreign conflicts, culture, and technology. While they do release political commentary as well they aim to cover it from an unbiased overall perspective. They do this by making sure to have columnists from both the left and right to ensure their overall stance is unbiased. As of May 2019, Porter Medium maintains a team of over 150 writers from a diverse set of professional backgrounds.
