Port Perry Lamaze Information

At Port Perry Lamaze, we recognize that today, people are very busy and may not be able to commit to the traditional 6-8 week series of prenatal classes. So, we introduced to the Durham area a two-day prenatal series offered on weekends that covers all the same content, in a condensed format. Our classes are taught in an education room at a local hospital by Registered Nurses who are also Lamaze-Certified Childbirth Educators -- this means that you only get top-qualified instructors, with many years of experience. The purpose of our classes is to increase the confidence of both women and their support persons that birth is a normal, natural process. It is also an opportunity to inform expectant parents about current research on related topics so they can make informed decisions about their birth and early child care. Participation in prenatal classes has been known to decrease physical complications during labour and dleivery and also to improve physical and mental health in the postpartum period.
