A project created to develop bio-based and biodegradable outdoor performance apparel. The majority of performance fabrics and outdoor apparel are made from polyester and nylon bases, originating from crude oil and are processed in a manner that is harmful to the environment and does not decompose in any environment. Biodegradable yarns can either be nature sourced (cotton, wool, lyocell, etc) or produced (non-toxic polyamide yarns that decompose in a landfill environment in less than 5 years). Currently the polyamide yarns that we are buying come from crude oil (NOT PET) and are non toxic and do not harm the environment. Our goals are to always do better, and right now, this is better. These fabrics are OEKO-TEX® Certified. Bio-based yarns come from renewable materials from nature or grown sustainably while not impacting any food supply chain. Sourcing all of our fabrics from mills that have certification systems in place that guarantee non toxic waste and circular supply chain.
