For years world leaders and corporations have known of the crisis that we are facing yet they continue to stall action, searching for loopholes instead of real solutions. After seeing the countless youth and indigenous activists removed from COP we realized that this was the accumulated work of the fossil fuel industry and their influence. We need a United Nations that unequivocally stands for the people and the climate, which is why youth activists, adult allies, and scientists from around the world have come together. However this issue does not just start and end at COP and the UNFCCCs structural flaws (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). The issue of corporate and political greed is rampant, but our power can be channeled into lobbying and mobilizing around real demands and policies that will force societal divestment, ultimately changing the structures in which our current governments, banks, and universities that perpetuate climate injustice.
