Poekie Nook Information

The Poekie Nook is a one-woman business. Born and raised in a small village in Holland, amidst a bustling artistic family, I learned most creative skills at a young age. Since 1992, I've been teaching hand-sewing and beading to children in Mill Valley, California. Twenty two years and around twenty thousand kids later, I opened my own place in March 2014. Direct teaching experience and Waldorf teacher training helped develop a sewing system and a world that children love and which inspires them to create, craft, and imagine. The increasing popularity of the Poekies resulted in a website in 2008 with photos for kids to see. In 2009 free patterns were added, and by 2010 the first Poekie kits were produced. By this summer 2014, the Poekie Nook is becoming a viable business, prompting much business activity. As this new website is launched, I'm in the process of trademarking the name, and in the fall the Poekie kits will get revamped by adding video instructions. This long journey has been blessed with the support of a few active parents and friends, without whom the Poekie Nook could not have gotten this far. They have helped me to the point that if the business is to continue to grow, I have to hire staff to help with both teaching and business management.
