PlayCafe was an online game show network where everyone could be a contestant. It produced over 300 live game shows in 2007-2008. Anyone watching from home could answer questions, win prizes, join chat rooms, and form teams. PlayCafe raised $1M from First Round Capital and angels. Players watched for an average of 87 minutes per day but the shows did not reach enough users to make the business viable. $300,000 of remaining funds were returned to investors and the company was shut down in 2008.
