Platinum Remodeling Information

Platinum Remodeling and Handyman Services was founded in February of 2005. I bought out House Doctors -Southwest Metro, a handyman franchise that I helped start. I had been the operations manager of House Doctors since its inception in 2002. I ran all of the day to day operations, estimated, scheduled, and managed all projects. When I started Platinum, I hired three of my previous co-workers from House Doctors and we never missed a beat! I have a degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Strategies from Iowa State University. This business degree paired with my experience and passion for residential remodeling made this venture a perfect fit. I am the third generation of Shonkwilers to own a construction company. I grew up in the remodeling and construction industry working for my father's company, Shonkwiler Brothers Construction. My father, Dick, got started working with my grandfather at his company, Shonkwiler Construction. As of September 2007 my father has moved to Chaska and joined my team fulltime. I'm excited to be able to add his 35+ years in the residential construction industry, unmatched craftsmanship, integrity, and small town Iowa work ethic to my staff. Since the start I have slowly acquired great employees with unique skill sets as the need and demand required. This mix of employees allows us to complete a wide variety of projects, the majority of which are done entirely "in-house" by our 13 full-time employees. All of my employees are highly capable and take pride in a job well done. My employees are all "handy", but each has their own specialties and I match the employee whose skill set is best suited for the job on your project. All employees have undergone background checks and drug tests. They are bonded and covered by workers compensation. They are truly a great group of people that you will feel very comfortable having them work in your home.
