Pixel & Chalk builds data infrastructure that school districts actually own. We replace rented, vendor-controlled systems with single-tenant environments where districts hold the keys to their own data, their own applications, and their own future. Our work starts with real problems. We form small cohorts of districts facing shared operational challenges and build targeted applications on infrastructure the district controls. As that infrastructure matures through use, it becomes the foundation for a broader ecosystem: a managed platform where operational tools, teacher-built classroom applications, and partner integrations all run in a single, modular environment governed by the institution. We call this the Pixel & Chalk Hub. Districts pay a base fee for the platform and scale costs modestly with usage. What results is a stack of solutions that costs a fraction of what purchasing through individual vendors would have cost under a legacy model. Our first deployment manages IEP, 504, and MTSS records for 3,000+ students across New Orleans Public Schools. Additional district cohorts are underway. Through our Platypus Ventures program, we also support teacher-builders in developing classroom micro-applications that run safely on district-owned infrastructure. The infrastructure schools own. The applications they deserve.
