PEP manages a microcap fund, investing up to $500,000 per round. We primarily seek early-stage technology investments that meet the following criteria:Commercialization stageCapital efficientRegionally headquarteredFit with our expertiseWe make investments in companies that have a working prototype ready for the market, which is proven by having at least one paying customer. Proceeds from the current round will be used to ramp up sales and marketing. Many startups we see are in the 'post-incubator' phase. We like to fund opportunities that require less than $10 million in total financing to reach an exit. So that we can establish a practical working relationship, we work with companies that are headquartered within driving distance from Pittsburgh. Also, a strong fit with our expertise is important: we invest in companies we know we can help either by opening doors, making introductions or by providing operational or domain expertise.
