For 40 years, Camp Sunshine has provided hope, joy and community through unique experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. At our pristine campus on Sebago Lake in Maine, more than 60,000 children, siblings, parents, and caregivers from all 50 states and 27 countries have come together for fun-filled, year-round sessions with families just like theirs. And, thanks to the incredible support of donors and volunteers, our programs are 100% free. Founded in 1919, Camp Agawam, located on Crescent Lake in Raymond, Maine, is a traditional seven-week summer camp for boys. During the summer, Agawam boys discover much about themselves and the effort required to become good community citizens. As Agawam campers learn about themselves, we encourage acceptance and respect for individual differences. The unique community at camp promotes independence while also learning the value of counselors and fellow campers for companionship, friendship, entertainment and support. We seek a balance between competition and cooperation. Balance exists between structure and freedom, as we teach the relationship between privilege and responsibility, and the decision-making skills needed to make productive use of free time and elective activity. The Main Idea at Camp Agawam was founded in 1971, and created to provide a unique camping program for boys from Maine who might otherwise never get the chance to attend camp. Since its inception, the Main Idea has been operated by volunteers. The volunteers, including Agawam alumni and current staff members, dedicate their time to giving the campers a fulfilling experience. Funding by donations from alumni, parents and friends of Camp Agawam. Camp Agawam is governed by the Agawam Council Board of Directors. Agawam Council is a non-profit corporation formed in 1985 to ensure that Agawam would continue to thrive as a summer camp after the retirement of former Directors and Owners, Dave and Peg Mason.

Camp Takajo was founded in 1947 by Morton J. Goldman. Throughout its history, Takajo has been known for diversity, carefully designed programs, and exceptional facilities that combine to offer youngsters a breadth of experience that is unique in camping. Exposure to a wide range of activities enables each boy to find his niche in the camp setting. An underlying philosophy which emphasizes individual growth helps every child thrive in Takajo's family-oriented environment. Amusement, entertainment, and recreation for children can be accomplished by summer activities other than camping. Good camping more than any other experience offers an environment that fosters the development of values. An important goal at Takajo certainly is to create a fun-filled, positive atmosphere in which youngsters can develop the many facets of their unlimited potential. The fundamental emphasis, brought home through sports, games, and special events, is on time-tested moral and ethical standards. Integrity, a sense of fair play, respect for one's self and others, appreciation of nature— these are most vital qualities which we constantly reinforce at camp. If we help children learn to live with others, help them develop self-esteem, independence, and a deepening sense of responsibility, and do so in a way that leads to lasting friendships— then we have accomplished a great deal. This is our goal at Camp Takajo.
