It was founded in Spain in 1979, with its first store in Madrid.In 1993, in a process of internationalization, DIA Portugal was founded, which has strengthened and boosted the discount format in our country. With increasing success, DIA Portugal acquired the Minipreço chain in 1998 and began operating exclusively under this brand keeping, however, the private label Dia in the products.The first Minipreço store opened in 1979 in Lisbon, being a pioneer in the discount concept and launched, as a novelty, the first private label products.
