Photogram was founded in 1999 by a group of private entrepreneurs with more than fifteen years of business collaboration. Former specialists in holography, the three founders of the company realized that printing on lenticular plastic was capable of reaching a much wider clientele than the 3D effect by laser reproduction techniques. Major distinctions in the production techniques have resulted in a product very different from holography and offering a superior level of quality and price. Initially, Photogram began its operations utilizing the then accepted lenticular production techniques. During the months and years following its beginning, Photogram undertook advanced research and development activities with a view to perfecting the processes for the production of lenticular products on lithographic sheet presses. In 2003, after several years of research and reorientation of printing methods on lenticular plastic, the elements giving form to a first patent for the Company are formally identified. Photogram then drafts the textual description of one of the numerous industrial secrets it has developed since its inception. On July 18 th , 2003, a first patent is officially tabled in the United States and at the international level with the collaboration of the Montreal patent agents firm Ogilvy Renaud. Photogram's DRIP increases the general quality of high definition lithographic printing, used to produce lenticular printed products. The DRIP was developed to:Have an absolute control of the capacity to reproduce the colors in the printing process, and even surpass photographic quality; Increase the level of definition of any printed image in order to multiply the number of images in each lenticular product, thus providing far superior quality lenticular special effects; Greatly facilitate, in general, the printing process on lenticular plastic. The DRIP technology is a mathematical algorithm which enables to control the printing raster in the print manufacture process. The printing raster is the basic component of all types of printed images. Each image of a printed product is formed of a multitude of dots, generally containing the basic colors « CMYK » (cyan, magenta, yellow and black). The small dots which create larger images are what we call the printing raster. In the traditional printing industry, these dots generally vary from a round to a hexagonal shape. Photogram's DRIP raster is composed of lines, instead of dots. Because of this patent pending line shape raster, Photogram's printed products are also UNCOPIABLE , no other raster technology available in the world being able to reproduce its line shape format.
