PHIT Comedy is the home of alternative comedy theater in the Metro Philadelphia area. Founded as a nonprofit in 2005, PHIT embraces the art of improvisation as an end rather than a means - and has been creating and producing improv, sketch, and alternate comedy shows in the tradition of theaters like Chicago's Second City and New York's Upright Citizens Brigade for over a decade. Since 2013, PHIT Comedy has been resident at The Adrienne Theatre - just off of Rittenhouse Square in the heart of downtown Philadelphia - presenting multiple shows nightly, every week of the year. In 2016 PHIT expanded their presence with the addition of a Second Stage for even more performances each night. Also in 2016, PHIT Comedy expanded into the realm of the internet by launching the Rocket Comedy Network - podcasts and video sketches created by our talented roster of performers designed to reach a wider audience around the world. To further our philosophy of comedy, PHIT Comedy offers its own take on the theories and concepts behind good improvisational comedy, sketch comedy, stand-up comedy, and comedy acting in a full curriculum of classes for performers of all skill levels taught by local talent in our Training Center. In addition, PHIT COmedymaster classes with distinguished performers and teachers from all over the world (including guests like 30 ROCK's Scott Adsit, Kevin McDonald of The Kids in the Hall, Kevin Allison from MTV's The State, Impro author Keith Johnstone, and former SNL writers Ali Farahnakian, Christine Nangle, and countless others). Improv and sketch troupes produced and presented by PHIT Comedy have toured extensively and performed in festivals throughout North America and Europe.
