Backed by Breakthrough Energy, Transition, and Y Combinator, Phase Biolabs turns a producer's waste CO₂ into more product, less carbon. Our proprietary CRISPR-engineered gas fermentation platform is a licensable retrofit that installs directly onto a producer's existing plant — with no separate carbon capture infrastructure required — converting their own CO₂ off gas into more of their own output, while cutting the carbon intensity of their process. We license the technology and supply the biocatalyst; the production, and the upside, stays with the producer. Starting with ethanol: the global industry runs more than 800 plants, with over 250 in our EU/UK/US alone, and today the majority of their CO₂ is simply vented. Our biocatalyst converts that off gas, together with hydrogen, into additional ethanol at over 80% yield in pilot testing — lifting a plant's output and lowering its carbon intensity score, which unlocks premium markets for producers: advanced biofuel pricing, low-carbon fuel credits, and the fast-growing alcohol-to-jet pathway into sustainable aviation fuel.
