Herts Parent Carer Involvement
We are the parent carer forum for Hertfordshire and we are part of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF) in England. We originally began under the previous Government's Aiming High for Disabled Children programme. The current Government continues to support parent carer forums and representatives from the National Network regularly attend meetings at the Departments of Education and Health putting the views of parent carers and the needs of our children and young people at the heart of government.

Specialvoices
Special Voices is a group of parents/carers of children and young people with special/additional needs. We are all volunteers working in partnership with voluntary and statutory organisations. The main aim of Special Voices is to raise awareness about the rights and needs of children/young people with special needs and to ensure that they and their families are consulted and involved in any decisions made during planning or developing services for them. Special Voices has a main steering group of voluntary parents/carers who have taken on the role of gathering your collective views and presenting them to service planners and decision makers in order to ensure that services are needs-led. Would you like to know more about who can become involved with Special Voices? If you are a parent/carer of a child or young person with special needs and live in Slough, you can become involved in any way you choose. How does Special Voices work? Special Voices' parent representatives are invited to sit on planning meetings to give your views. Special Voices attend forums to give you a chance to express your views and opinions. Special Voices hold coffee mornings giving you a chance to meet other parents and share experiences. Special Voices has publicity stands at various venues across Slough to raise awareness and to listen to your views. Special Voices signpost families for support or for information. Through Special Voices you can get regular newsletters. Special Voices members organise fun events together. Through Special Voices you can ensure that your views and your child's needs are recorded on the voluntary planning database which Slough is required to keep. Is English your second language? If you are a parent/carer who has English as a second language Special Voices can provide bi-lingual link workers to represent your views.
