Peter Tabichi Foundation Information

Peter Tabichi Foundation (PTF) is a Kenyan education organisation working with teachers to identify, strengthen and spread promising classroom practice. Through TichaCraft, our flagship programme, we find promising approaches already emerging in real classrooms, work with teachers to understand and strengthen them, and test whether other teachers can successfully adapt and use them in different contexts. Teachers learn through professional learning communities, classroom inquiry and iterative improvement — responding to real learner needs, gathering practical evidence, reflecting on what is working and refining practice over time. Locally relevant, low-cost teaching and learning resources remain an important part of this work when they make learning more practical, inclusive and accessible, particularly in resource-constrained settings. TichaCraft, however, goes beyond creating materials: it focuses on the teaching practice around them, the learning challenge being addressed, what changes for learners, and whether the approach can travel to other classrooms. Our ambition is to create credible pathways through which promising teacher-led practice can be strengthened, tested across classrooms and contribute to wider school and education-system learning.
