The Marine Stewardship Council is an international non-profit organisation. We recognise and reward efforts to protect oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future. We want future generations to be able to enjoy seafood and oceans full of life, forever. Our vision is of the world’s oceans teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Our mission is to use our blue fish label and fishery certification programme to contribute to the health of the world’s oceans by recognising and rewarding sustainable fishing practices, influencing the choices people make when buying seafood and working with our partners to transform the seafood market to a sustainable basis.

Sydney Fish Market
Home of Australia's Seafood, Sydney Fish Market (SFM) is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the world's second largest seafood market in terms of variety outside of Japan. A working fish market, SFM sources' product both nationally and internationally and trades over 14,500 tonnes of seafood annually - with up to a hundred species of sustainable Australian seafood traded every day. SFM employs approximately fifty-seven staff to organise the weekday wholesale auction, promote Sydney Fish Market as the centre of seafood excellence and operate the Sydney Seafood School. Over 13,000 people come to classes each year. Visit the SSS pages for more information or to book a class. The FRDC is widely recognised as the leading Australian agency concerned with planning, funding and managing fisheries research and development. The FRDC does not undertake research itself; rather it identifies research and development needs - and the means of addressing them - through a planning process and by contracting with research providers. Stakeholders in the FRDC are the fishing industry; the governments of the Commonwealth, the states and the territories; and the people of Australia. The FRDC acknowledge Australia’s Indigenous People who are the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respect to their Elders both past and present and extend that respect to all Indigenous People.
