North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) comprises an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 729,144 people (approximately 28% of Western Australia’s total population) within a catchment area of almost 1,000 square kilometres. The NMHS comprises of a mix of tertiary, specialist and generalist hospitals including: - Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital - Osborne Park Hospital - Graylands Hospital - King Edward Memorial Hospital NMHS also has a Public Private Partnership arrangement in place for north metropolitan residents to receive high quality public health care services from Joondalup Health Campus. The NMHS is a statutory authority governed by the NMHS Board.

Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) was established in June 1996 when the Western Australian Government appointed Health Care of Australia to operate the existing Wanneroo Hospital and transform it into a modern health care facility. The original Wanneroo Hospital opened in August 1980 with 85 beds. More than three decades on, the hospital has now evolved into the major sub-tertiary health care facility Joondalup Health Campus is today. The most recently completed redevelopment at JHC has delivered extensive facilities and services for public and private patients. These include: New and expanded Emergency Department Wanneroo Wing (L Block) with 85 additional beds Expanded Special Care Nursery 12 new operating theatres Cardiovascular catheter laboratory Expanded Critical Care Unit New Specialist Medical Centre New Antenatal Clinic and After Hours GP Clinic Joondalup Health Campus is managed by Ramsay Health Care - Australia's largest and most respected private hospital operator. In Western Australia, Ramsay Health Care also operates Hollywood Private Hospital, Attadale Private Hospital, Glengarry Private Hospital and Peel Health Campus. Ramsay Health Care has also undergone a global expansion, with health care facilities in France, the United Kingdom, Indonesia and Malaysia. Ramsay Health Care holds a 20-year contract to provide a range of services to public patients at Joondalup Health Campus. This contract, which is managed by the WA Department of Health's North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS), specifies an annual maximum operating budget for required levels of activity and the services to be provided to public patients. The new 145-bed Joondalup Private Hospital was also opened in March 2013 as part of our recent redevelopment.
