PERSENTECH works closely with academic, government, and institutional research-oriented organizations to develop devices, software, processes and systems according to specific requirements. PERSENTECH also works with commercial enterprises and leverages existing product developments with application-specific business needs. In some project studies, PERSENTECH takes on the role of the prime contractor and handles all project management, participant selection, installation, and development activities. In other cases, PERSENTECH provides takes on a support role and provides technical services for data analysis and new feature enhancements to existing products and systems. The following are brief descriptions of some projects and studies completed over the last 7 years. Transport Canada Canadian Vehicle Use Survey: Development of an autonomous data logger for cars and heavy-duty trucks�. The development of a device that integrates GPS, OBDII, and GSM-GPRS technologies along with a user-input capability that provides access to the required information currently collected by Statistics Canada through the Canadian Vehicle Survey (CVS). Transport Canada - SafeMiles Project. An innovative driving behaviour modification project that measured participant's compliance with speed limits and vehicle headway distance, and that encouraged the participants to attain higher compliance rates through the collection of good driving points that were redeemable for rewards of goods and services. The project involved the development of the in-vehicle display device, the integration of a 60 GHz Continental Temic radar device, and the development of the web application software for the back-end data collection system. Ontario Health Research Institute (OHRI) "Candrive project". An interdisciplinary health-related research program dedicated to improving the safety of older drivers. One of the goals is to develop a screening tool that will allow clinicians to identify which older drivers, for whatever reason, are unsafe to continue operating a motor vehicle or require more in-depth evaluation. PERSENTECH developed a device that integrates GPS, OBDII and RFID technologies and provides the data analysis tools used to extract the required information. Several projects including:OttoCycle- the operational support for the deployment of the Otto-driving companion devices to Winnipeg cyclists to develop an understanding of the required cycling infrastructure required in Winnipeg. My Sustainable Canada Blue Mountain Research project the installation and operational support of OttoView systems in commercial vehicles at the Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Collingwood Ontario. OttoView device deployment into provincial fleet vehicles to monitor trip statistics, fuel consumption and estimates for equivalent CO2 emissions. ecoEnergy project on the study of idling and emissions using OttoView equipment through a 3 phase implementation: baseline without in-vehicle feedback; a period with driver feedback using both a display and voice alerts; a residual period without in-vehicle feedback. Telesat V-Band Handheld Antenna Technology Project.A system and technology study for the feasibility of developing a handheld device for use with a V-Band payload to be deployed in a future Telesat satellite mission. The outcome was the design of a proof of concept antenna array for integration within a 10 cm2 area.
