We have a friendly support team ready to answer your questions. We also have a searchable online help centre so you can self-help 24/7.
Designed by a Librarian
Our Managing Director and founder, Penny Bailey had a previous career as a Chartered Librarian working in academic and workplace libraries. We understand things from your point of view and regards ourselves as technology enablers.
Our Values
In the 1990s Penny developed her first library system, because she was frustrated by the user experience of other systems. The software products have been through various upgrades in response to our clients’ evolving requirements. We have the same ethos now as when we started: transparent pricing, ease-of-use, and listening & acting on feedback.
We have happy customers in over 20 countries
Having great software isn’t our only aim. Keeping you happy and well supported is just as important, so we promise you excellent service too. Looking back at our clients who have purchased a Bailey system over the last 20 years, 99% of them have not left us for a competitor that speaks for itself!

We are a small non-profit organisation based in the Midlands of the United Kingdom. We have been scanning local history books and directories since mid-2003. It started because of a chance comment from an archivist on the impossibility of managing a local history library on a tight budget split across 3 locations. Creating digital copies and making them available on the internet seemed like the obvious answer. It has other advantages too:- A little research revealed that to achieve this we needed the best equipment. Flatbed scanners destroy books simply because any book has to be turned over as many times as there are pages in the book. We use two scanners: the Bookeye scanner from ImageWare Gmbh, and the BookDrive DIY from Atiz. Both produce excellent quality images without damaging the books. We have now scanned #no# books, so we have a substantial Midlands local history library available for you to view. We have tried to create indexes and search mechanisms to enable you to find exactly what you are looking for, and will continue to refine our approach. This project is as much about creating useable historical data for our region as it is about creating images of the books - hence the title of our company : Midlands Historical Data.
We support and fund the education and training of music librarians in the UK and Ireland. We also fund research projects related to music libraries, librarianship, and bibliography.
