Performance Orthopedics Information

Performance Orthopedics is an orthopedic practice dedicated to caring for injured athletes, individuals of all ages with an active lifestyle, patients with injuries to the shoulder, elbow and knee, as well as many general orthopedic problems. The focus of the practice is sports medicine and joint reconstruction. We offer specialized programs for the female athlete, the mature athlete and the growing athlete. The physicians are expertly trained in the treatment of these conditions. The practice, including the physicians, ancillary medical personnel, clerical staff and management, treat the patient as a customer. Emphasis is placed on customer satisfaction. This includes a friendly atmosphere, minimal waiting time for scheduling appointments as well as best efforts to reduce waiting on the day of the appointment. Patient education is important as well. Information is given to patients about their disease process, pre and post-operative care. Our web site is available for patients to get directions to the office, copies of patient information brochures, pre and post operative instructions as well as general information about various disease processes (arthritis, tendonitis, cartilage tears, etc.) An e-mail newsletter will be available to all patients and others for information purposes. Resources will be available for any patient who wishes to improve their health status; for example, personal trainers, dieticians etc. Educational programs for the public will be part of an overall community outreach plan. Preceptorships will be made available for high school, college and medical students who wish to pursue careers in the health related fields. This includes orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, radiology technician, medical assisting and athletic trainers. Rotations in sports medicine will be offered to medical, family practice, PM&R, orthopedic, emergency medicine or pediatric residents. Clinical and basic science research will also be coordinated through the office and the orthopedic residency program at Beaumont. Public visibility and promotions will also be an important part of the practice. This will include sponsorship of booths at health fairs, banners at functions (marathons, races, walks, etc.).
