Performance Design Lab (PDL) is a consulting and training company that specializes in organizational performance improvement. Our founder Geary A. Rummler, Ph.D., is the author of the book, "Improving Performance: How to Manage the White Spaces on the Organization Chart," that started the business process movement in the 1990’s. Rummler’s company, the Rummler-Brache Group (RBG), provided the first comprehensive methodology for process improvement, which was based on groundbreaking work at Motorola, GTE and other corporations. During the 1990’s, the Rummler-Brache methodology was widely adopted by other consulting organizations, by universities and colleges, and is today a generic term for business process improvement. Dr. Rummler sold RBG in the late 1990’s, retired, and then returned to the field of performance improvement, founding PDL with a group of partners who were leading participants in building the tools and methods practiced at RBG. Back in the lab – our Design Center, located in Arizona - we continue to evolve and expand the theory base and methodologies first introduced in "Improving Performance" to include breakthrough approaches to management systems, measurement, strategy, IT alignment and organization structure design and implementation. We deliver these approaches to you through our consulting services and training products. Our clientele are Fortune 500 companies interested in a serious, scientific approach to organizational transformation.
