Frame Hardwoods purchases all of our lumber from sources located on the North American continent and within 300 miles of our facility. Over 95% of all hardwood timber produced from US forests is produced from forests that are privately owned and managed timberlands. Frame Hardwoods does not import raw material from foreign countries or engage in environmentally wasteful ocean and rail shipping practices that require transportation of raw material over 300 miles. Frame Hardwoods' manufacturing facility has been inspected by the State of Michigan Environmental Protection Agency and is 100% compliant with all emission requirements and Clean Water /Stream Water Run Off statutes. Solid Hardwood flooring production from our facility is "Carbon-neutral", and has the lowest "Life Cycle Assessment" (LCA) cost of any flooring material. Frame Hardwoods' products are all 100% solid hardwood. We do not use glues or adhesives to bond together layers of wood. A comprehensive independent study completed in 2007 (University of Wisconsin at Madison WI.) of solid hardwood flooring, its life cycle, and its impact on our environment is available at the National Wood Flooring Associations web site: http://www.nwfa.org. Our facility is operated as a 100% "VOC free" production facility. All of our finishes are "VOC free", contain NO LEAD, formaldehyde, chemicals or substances that have been determined to be harmful to animals or to humans. All bi-products are contained within protective storage structures with all hardwood chips and sawdust recycled into bio-fuel pellets that use baking soda for a bonding agent. Any potential hazardous waste (cleaning material) is properly disposed of through licensed hazardous waste recycle companies. Lumber is brought to our facility using regional trucking companies that must conform to US vehicle safety and emission standards.
