Perceptive Automata was founded in 2016 by a team of Harvard and MIT computer vision researchers, neuroscientists, software engineers, and machine learning experts to solve what is often described as the hardest problem for automated driving: reading the state of mind of humans for the safe large-scale rollout of autonomous vehicles (L2-L5). Incorporating visual psychophysics as its framework, our product SOMAIā¢ (State of Mind AI) enables AVs to understand the intentions and awareness of pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users and make split-second decisions for safer and smoother driving experiences. Without this capability, highly automated vehicles will not function well enough for broad-scale, real-world deployment. We've raised $20M from top-tier investors and are working with OEMs, suppliers, and autonomous technology companies that are building or integrating ADAS and autonomous driving systems.
